Pricing and value

What a Clinical Placement Costs for Herzing NP Students

There is no single sticker price for a clinical placement, and any service that quotes you one before knowing your track, state, and timeline is guessing. Honest pricing depends on what your placement actually requires. This page explains what drives the cost, what a complete placement includes, and how our match-first model works, so you pay nothing until a qualified preceptor is secured. We are an independent placement service and are not affiliated with or endorsed by Herzing University or the CCNE.

Why we do not publish a flat price

Every Herzing NP student arrives with a different specialty, a different home state, and a different number of weeks before their clinical application deadline. Those three variables change the work involved enough that a one-size price would either overcharge the easy placements or under-deliver on the hard ones. We would rather scope your situation and give you a real number than post a headline figure that means nothing for your case.

What we can promise up front is the structure: you are matched first and pay nothing until a preceptor is secured. That removes the gamble from the decision. You see who you are getting and confirm the fit before any placement fee is due.

What drives the cost

Four things move the price of a placement up or down. Understanding them helps you see why an early, well-scoped request almost always costs less than a last-minute scramble.

  • Specialty difficulty. A FNP primary-care rotation draws from a wide pool of preceptors. Narrower tracks such as PMHNP, AGACNP acute care, pediatric primary care, and women's health have fewer qualified, available preceptors, so they take more outreach to fill.
  • Location. Dense metro areas with many practices are generally easier to place than rural regions or states where NP supervision rules limit who can precept. Your state shapes both the pool and the paperwork.
  • Hours and number of practicums. A single precepted rotation is one search. Programs that split clinical across multiple practicums, or DNP tracks that add doctoral practice hours, mean more placements to coordinate. Your exact requirement appears on clinical hours, where we note it is commonly published for your program and we confirm it against your current Herzing handbook.
  • Timing. This is the big one. Starting early gives us room to find the right fit at a sustainable pace. A compressed timeline forces rushed outreach and narrows your options, which is exactly the pressure our model is built to remove.

What a complete placement includes

A placement fee is not just an introduction. When we secure a site, you are paying for everything Herzing's own process requires to approve it, handled for you instead of left on your plate.

  • A vetted, Herzing-approvable preceptor in your specialty and state, matched to your program's requirements.
  • The placement paperwork Herzing needs to approve a site, including the preceptor's CV and a signed preceptor agreement.
  • Deadline tracking so your formal placement process begins on time, well before your clinical application deadline. The full timeline lives on clinical deadlines.
  • Coordination on background check and immunization clearance and entry into your program's clinical tracking system, so nothing stalls at the compliance step. See clinical compliance.

Herzing is a student-first program: you are expressly encouraged to find your own preceptor, with support from a Clinical Placement Advisor and a Clinical Coordinator. Its APRN Clinical Placement Pledge is real, but it is conditional and deadline-gated, and it only covers Herzing-approved sites. We explain that backstop and its full conditions on clinical placement. What you are paying us for is closing that gap early, so you clear Herzing's deadlines and approval requirements instead of relying on a conditional pledge.

Our model: matched first, early-starter waiver

We lead with the match, not the invoice. You request a plan, we scope your track, state, and timeline, and we go to work finding a qualified preceptor. You pay nothing until a preceptor is secured and you have confirmed the fit. If we cannot place you, you do not owe a placement fee.

Students who come to us early earn an early-starter fee waiver. Beginning your placement well ahead of your deadline gives us the runway to do this efficiently, and we pass that benefit back to you. It is the opposite of last-minute pricing: the sooner you start, the less it costs and the better your match.

To be clear about what this is not: our fee covers placement work only. It has no connection to your Herzing tuition, and the Placement Pledge is a placement backstop, not a money-back or tuition-refund guarantee. No Herzing tuition refund exists, and we will never tell you otherwise.

Questions

Good to know

How much does a Herzing NP clinical placement cost?

There is no flat price. The cost depends on your specialty, your state, how many clinical hours and practicums your program requires, and how early you start. We scope all of that and give you a real figure when you request a placement plan, rather than quoting a meaningless headline number. You are matched first and pay nothing until a preceptor is secured.

When do I pay?

You pay nothing until a qualified preceptor is secured and you have confirmed the fit. If we cannot place you, you do not owe a placement fee. We lead with the match, not the invoice.

What makes one placement cost more than another?

Four factors: specialty difficulty (narrower tracks like PMHNP, AGACNP, pediatrics, and women's health have smaller preceptor pools than FNP), location (rural areas and certain states are harder to place), the number of hours and practicums to coordinate, and timing. Starting early is the single biggest way to keep the cost down.

Is this a tuition refund or money-back guarantee?

No. Our fee covers placement work only and has nothing to do with your Herzing tuition. Herzing's Clinical Placement Pledge is a placement backstop, not a refund. No Herzing tuition-refund guarantee exists, and we will never imply one.

What does the early-starter fee waiver mean?

Students who begin their placement well ahead of their clinical application deadline earn a fee waiver. Starting early gives us the runway to place you efficiently, and we pass that benefit back to you. The sooner you start, the less it costs and the better the match.

Are you part of Herzing University?

No. We are an independent clinical-placement service and are not affiliated with or endorsed by Herzing University or the CCNE. We help Herzing MSN and DNP nurse practitioner students secure a Herzing-approvable preceptor early, so they clear Herzing's own deadlines and approval requirements.
